Head of Orange Fab, Ivory Coast
Sadamoudou Kaba is head of Orange Fab Ivory Coast, the start-up accelerator of the mobile telecommunications giant. With over 20 years experience in telecommunications and information systems, Mr Kaba understands that innovation can contribute significantly to the ease of doing business, and to efficient delivery of public services. Mr Kaba has first-hand experience of this, having worked to transform the mobile payment landscape in west and central Africa. In Ivory Coast alone, the number of registered mobile money users has risen from 1.5 million in 2011 to 5 million in 2013.
Under his stewardship, Mr Kaba has helped to raise the number of transactions made using Orange Money, a simplified and secure way to transfer money in Africa, to two-thirds of the accounting base.
In Southern Africa, Mr Kaba spent two years as a project manager for Orange Botswana where he was responsible for restructuring and repositioning the company in line with group strategy.
Mr Kaba joined Orange Ivory Coast in 2004, in the marketing department, where he established its leadership in innovation through value-added services and prepaid roaming to name a few.
Before joining the Orange group of companies, he was business advisory services manager at KPMG’s Abidjan office, and technical secretary in charge of the Universal Postal Union Congress information system.
His career began in London back in 1994 where he worked as a telecommunications analyst in charge of Africa within the International Secretariat of Amnesty International. Mr Kaba has participated in and been a speaker at numerous telecommunications and IT related forums.
