Roberto Ridolfi is the European Commission’s director for prosperity and planet.
Roberto Ridolfi is the European Commission’s director for sustainable growth and development. He joined the European Commission in 1994, and worked in several delegations of the European Union (EU), including Malawi, Namibia and Kosovo, as development and economic advisor.
Throughout accession negotiations, held between 2001 and 2004, he was the principal coordinator dealing with environment and transport in public-private-partnerships (PPP).
Twice ambassador/head of delegation to the EU, Mr Ridolfi was first in Suva, Fiji, where he served from 2005 to 2007. Here he oversaw all EU relations with 15 countries and territories, as well as with the Pacific Forum.
In 2010, he was appointed in Uganda by the EU’s high representative for foreign policy, and served here until September 2013. In the interim periods, he managed programmes dealing with environment and climate change, food security, human development, migration and asylum as well as €1-billion food facility in 50 countries.
