For 20 years, Remco Vahl has worked on trade matters for the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) region at the European Commission. His unit deals with Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) in seven ACP regions. Having negotiated EPAs in all ACP regions, the unit is now implementing and monitoring the agreements.
Mr Vahl has dealt with issues ranging from EPA market access to EPA communication. Before that he worked on the Everything But Arms initiative for least-developed countries, and on the rules of origin of the Cotonou Agreement.
He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from Holland’s Leiden University, as well as a PhD in political science and EU decision-making.
