Team Co-ordinator Africa, CBI - Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, The Netherlands

Peter van Gilst has been with the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) for 26 years. As the agency of the Netherlands’ foreign affairs ministry, which spearheads development cooperation, its main objective is help select countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, the Mediterranean and the Pacific become economically independent. This it achieves by promoting the exports of goods and services from those countries to Western Europe.
Mr van Gilst first joined the company in 1991 as senior programme manager. He held this role until 2010 when he became team coordinator for Africa. In May this year, he was appointed team manager.
He has an MsC in tropical agronomy from Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
