Big Companies Helping Small Companies

Jobs for Youth & Women
Pavillon Nil
17:10 to 18:10

The role that big business can play in supporting or partnering with young entrepreneurs presents an exciting opportunity for Africa. Where assistance is most needed is in addressing some of the biggest challenges, namely access to markets and contracts, technical capacity and funding. Typically, these strategic resources are controlled by big business, yet there are insufficient opportunities for young entrepreneurs to broker the strategic relationships required to advance their business. An outcome of the session will be the drafting of a Big Business-Youth Business framework.
Questions to be addressed include·

  • What should an EU-Africa framework for a partnership between big business and youth business look like?
  • How should best practices, opportunities and lessons from existing diverse models be used by big business to support small firms?
  • How could an online enabler platform work to support the framework, and incentivise investment from big EU and African companies?
