Enabling and leveraging investments in sustainable energy in Africa

Sustainable Energy
Salle Ebouclé
14:00 to 15:30

This session will set the stage for a dialogue between high level public and private sector representatives on current trends and priorities for investing in sustainable energy in Africa in the context of the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI). Participants will deliberate on how to strengthen public-private cooperation to improve the investment climate in African countries and de-risk private investments. The session will showcase successful examples of private-public cooperation in a sector that can potentially be replicated and developed further.

Key topics for discussion include:

  • What is the economic case for accelerated private sector investment in sustainable energy in Africa, and how is this best achieved?
  • How will knowledge on innovative business and financing models, and best practice to leverage public finance, be shared?
  • Greater public-private cooperation engagement will be needed to improve and derisk the investment climate in African countries. How can this be tailored to individual countries?
  •  What support will be available to leverage investments in sustainable energy in Africa
