How to export to the EU market?
To export to the EU, there are numerous rules and regulations that exporting companies need to understand and meet. Among these are: health, safety, marketing and technical standards; rules and proof of origin; internal taxes in the importing country; and trade statistics relating to the product. In this session, participants heard about the EU Trade Helpdesk, a free online service that helps companies with essential information about how to prepare their products for the EU market, and maximise their country’s trade arrangements with the European Union. The participants discussed rules and regulations for specific products; what products benefit from a trade agreement; how to claim a duty discount for my product and other issues related to exporting to the EU market.
